Aren't there enough gold sinks? 15k armor.

Also a tax would do nothing but cause people to buy more gold on ebay. Which would dump more cash into the system.

My point. Whenever the government (Anet) tries to "fix"the economy, the only thing it does is cause more problems. So the government (Anet) has to come in a make more "fixes." That's exactly what happened all summer. Nerf after, nerf after, nerf until the economy crashed. They haven't nerfed anymore since SF and look at how the economy has increased and stabalized.

That's why tolerance is so important: people have free will, and some will choose to beg a lot, while others choose to earn their money. The problem is not the system, the problem is some people. And you can't change people through a system. People must change from within themselves.

The attitude is one of "entitlement." The beggars feel they are entitled to more than what tey have. and that we the rich should give them something. The person needs to chjange not the system.

Adding taxes will only cause the beggar to do more begging. Because then they would feel oppressed. The people need to change not the system.

Uh, what is the trade tab for? Sure not everyone uses it, but a lot of them do.

If you want an empty dist goto international districts.

I think this idea is completely useless. It solves only half of the problem (the WTS/WTB people)

The rest of the problem is that there is a NEED to sell things to players. They need a items trader that gives you a set amount for each weapon you have. It doesnt need to be fancy, it doesnt even need to be a lot. Then people can also buy these items too.

Then, there should be districts just meant for trading, and the non-trade districts should not have trade tabs.

Nothing would stop people from going into the taxed districts and trying to sell things. I'd do it just to piss people off.

There are plenty of areas that arent visited often that you can go and hang out in if you feel the need. I still dont understand why you'd want to hang out in a game though.

I would be happy that has the term WTS / WTB and keep up to date with the replacement terms for WTS / WEB that auto shifts it to the trade channel to cut down it in the all chat.

I say put up a trade system similar to Eve online's Marketplace. A serachable system where you can find whatever weapon, rune or whatever and you can buy/sell whether you are there or not.

A trade system would allow the beggar's to post for donations. Thus elliminating them from flaming the chat channells with their begiing. It would save them time. They could beg without begging, in a sense.

The trade system would serve everyone rich and poor. Because buyers would be able to post what they want to buy just as easily as theywould sell.

How about that? Really I want to know what you think.

I would go there to beg.

I would hang around Ascalon and beat the early monsters, get my 100 - 500G and then go there to beg, because I know you are all rich.

Seriously though, I wouldnt do that, but you can bet a lot of people would.

for pandhandlers: ignore them. they only beg because there are people that encourage the behavior by giving them money. these are the people you should really be mad at.

for price gouging: /cryaboutit - the term "price gouging" only applies to essential items, and i seriously doubt someone in lion's arch was selling d batteries and bottled water. when it comes to luxury items (aka ANYTHING you're going to buy in-game), the price is as high or as low as the buyer is willing to pay.

for spamming: personally i'd like to see anet code in a feature that dings you every time you set off the "message supprssed due to too many prior messages" (or however that's worded) and if you reach x amount of dings in a set timespan your account is suspended for 1 day, 1 week, etc.

for chat overload in general: turn off !Local when you're buying/selling, turn off $Trade when you're not.

Don't hang out in towns if you don't have anything worthwhile to do during the time. If you really enjoy hanging out in towns that much but don't want the annoyance of WTB or WTS or "Gimme mony plz!1!1!!" then turn off all chat features. I've learned that hanging out in towns is usually a waste of time that can be used for better purposes. If you're desperately searching for a weapon, then post a AD on a forum. It might cost more, but I highly doubt you'd rather stay in town for two hours each day to get it for 5k cheaper.

Basically, if you love towns that much, then

but if you can't really figure out a reason why you even stay in towns much then I suggest you reconsider how you spend your time.
Also, a very important reason has already been stated. The tax districts don't cost much, and if the rich people do go there, then so will the merchants who want to rip off the rich and beggers who want their money.
Beggers = Stupid, end of story.
Money is not hard to get, but that doesn't mean I'll hand them away so don't ask. Those who do beg tend to get little to nothing, therefore wasting tons of time they could've been earning money. If it's impossible for you to ignore beggers, you can always just disable regular chat.

thats why when I map somewhere, I pick the district with the highest number (where possible) and have the Trade channel turned off...

I'd pay for a peaceful location.

Sounds like you already have a solution. And it seems that you've already have peaceful locations. Why add the tax?

Changing the system will not change the person. You could tax all day but begars will still beg.

The best thing to do is to add a trade system like Eve-online. So that people can post stuff for sale or ask for donations over an auction system instead of flaming the trade channels.

If you just cant stand the masses of beggars and traders:

1. Go to an international dist
2. turn off all ur chat logs

And there you go..you're happy being isolated.

Although I mainly just do tombs now, I don't see why people complain so much about traders etc. in large cities.

Um...last district of lions arch isn't usually very populated...go there...Or just turn of all chat boxes....Or go to your guild hall...or a million other things you could do...Besides I know I wouldn't want to hang out in a district with a bunch of stuffy rich guild wars players. That would be wrose than the traders lol!

I asked for 15 gold once, just for the hell of it. ( I have 300k in my storage, and 3 complete sets of various fissure armor ) and some kind person gave me 2k. I was like 'actually I just wanted this for some ID kit.... you can have the money back, lol' and they were all 'no, its cool. i'm rich'

So yeah.... I felt good....
